How I got here.
I'm Derek. Marine veteran with a computer science and multimedia background. I shot skateboards and gear for Muir Skate in San Diego before I ever shot a house: 8 years as the lead product photographer for an online store.
When we moved to Austin, the product work didn't make the trip. In 2017 I started shooting real estate and commercial properties. Agents are everywhere, nothing has to be shipped back, and every house is a new lighting problem. The name came from a "Come and Take It" sign a friend brought me from Buc-ee's. It stuck.
I'm the photographer and videographer on every shoot. That's 5,100+ properties so far, from tiny homes to mansions, apartments, commercial spaces, even a mining company.
Product photography taught me one thing: the light has to be right. A product won't smile for you. Neither will a kitchen. So I light the room instead of hoping the windows cooperate.
